Hi Folks! I am Fabrizio Bezzini, a musician, busker and traveller from Firenze, Italy. I sing and play american roots music on acoustic guitar and banjo and other strings instruments.
In 2005 I got a degree in Music, Cinema and Art at the University of Bologna and while studying I fell in love with the old fingerpicking country-blues guitar style (Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller...) and I got the chance to learn it from Bob Brozman, Max De Bernardi and Roberto Menabò.
In 2007 I gave up my day-job in a call center and took a plane to the USA for a 70-day coast to coast trip on the road (by Couchsurfing and Greyhound Bus !!!). I went to the Appalachian Mountains to see Doc Watson playing at MerleFest (North Carolina, USA). There I discovered the old time banjo (clawhammer style) so when I came back to Italy I try to learn that special way that blends both deep rhythm and melody.
In 2008 I made my first record "Blues in the kitchen" playing acoustic guitar, resophonic guitar and ukulele with the duo "Lazy Step" and I had the chance to play in many venues, festivals and busking the streets with my friend Flavio Cipriano (singer and harmonica player).
In 2011 I published my first banjo solo cd "It's only old time banjo... but I like it" and I started busking and travelling around the world (Europe, Canada, Australia) just playing old time music on banjo and earn a living doing what I love.
In 2016 I recorded my first singing project called "Roots flavour" with acoustic guitar, resophonic guitar and banjo.
In 2017 I recorded 'Hawaiian tapes' a cd of traditional hawaiian slide guitar with great slide guitarist Simone Baggiani.
In 2020 during lock down I recorded 'Swing for ukulele and harmonica' an EP of swing arrangements for ukulele and harmonica with great harp player Gianni Massarutto.
In 2025 I recorded 'Elba tapes- Fingerpicking for Guitalele' a collection of originals and instrumentals arrangements for solo guitalele mixed with the sound of the waves of Elba Island, Tuscany, Italy.
